WWD

Women Welfare Department (WWD) is a women section of Ananda Marga established in the year 1965. WWD covers all areas of Ananda Marga’s activities when they are coordinated or focused on women.

It is dedicated to uplifting the dignity of women and ensure all women have the opportunity to realize their potentialities – physical, mental and spiritual. It also encourages cooperative coordination and female leadership.

Since its inception, WWD has established branches in almost every part of the world and is fully managed by women. Yoga nuns (Didis) provide instruction, counselling and personal guidance to women as they advance along the path of yoga.

Unlike any traditional spiritual paths, in Ananda Marga the nuns are as fully trained and qualied as the monks in imparting all the lessons of yoga and meditation.

The first worker of WWD was Didi Ananda Bharati.

Didi Ananda Giita, the second worker of WWD, shares some of her early experiences:

WWD AIMS:

  • for women’s equal rights and justice
  • educates and organizes several programs to create awareness that men and women are equal in society
  • to provide minimum requirements to each abused and abandoned woman worldwide
  • to train women to be self-dependent
  • to set up the small scale industry in the comunities
  • to provide education for the orphanage children
  • makes you realize and understand your inner quality in the field of spirituality, both the genders must be treated equally. It helps women understand that salvation lies within
  • makes you realize and understand that both genders must have coordinated cooperation and not the subordinate cooperation.

WWD manages meditation & yoga centres, schools, children’s homes, medical clinics, youth hostels, short and long term disaster relief. All projects and centres of WWD are managed by yoga nuns and/or volunteers.  To learn more visit WWD Departments on this website.
